The Lamborghini Murcielago was created in a "mission" to design a worthy successor to the Lamborghini Diablo: the new car had to be exciting, unmistakable, but also safe and ergonomic. Lamborghini's brief to the designer was simple: "We"ll make the engine, you design the body to fit". That powerplant is a 6.2 litre V12 which generates 580 horses and 480 lb-ft of torque, which is delivered to all four wheels (AWD) via a sophisticated 6-speed gearbox.

At the wheel of the Lamborghini Murcielago, the driver is in complete control. Acceleration is very swift as the Murcielago can reach 60 mph from a stop in only 3.6 seconds. The 1/4 mile takes a mere 12 seconds and the sports coupe has a maximum speed of 205 mph.

Surprisingly, all of this power & performance does not lead to a lack of refinement or luxury. The interior features leather upholstery, 3-spoke sports steering wheel (also in leather) and a steel gear lever and selector gate: another refinement that is a long-established Lamborghini tradition. If you have $275,000 to spend on a super car, the Murcielago seems like a pretty damn good choice.
